Illini Hire Bill Cubit to Run Offense

On Saturday, Illinois Fighting Illini head coach Tim Beckman announced that offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Chris Beatty would not be returning in 2013. On Sunday, he apparently found Beatty's replacement. Scott Powers reports that former Western Michigan head coach Bill Cubit will be running the Illinois offense this fall. As Powers points out, Cubit has plenty of experience running offenses all over the country: "Cubit also spent time as an offensive coordinator at Stanford (2004), Rutgers (2001-2002), Missouri (2000) and Western Michigan (1997-1999). He also called the offensive plays throughout his time as Western Michigan's head coach.
