Chris Sale's Contract Extension Impact

The Chicago White Sox and left-hander Chris Sale have agreed to a 5-year contract extension worth $35 million guaranteed, reports ESPNChicago.com's Bruce Levine. Sale has essentially sold each of his three arbitration years, which would have started after this coming season, and one of his free agent years, assuming the deal is in effect immediately, in exchange for a higher salary in 2013 and the security of he guaranteed money.

The White Sox now have Sale, right-hander Jake Peavy and left-hander John Danks as starting pitches under contract through at least 2014.
