White Sox Review Options While @GordonBeckham Recovers on the DL

The Chicago White Sox learned Thursday that second baseman Gordon Beckham has a broken hamate bone in his left hand and will hit the disabled list, likely to miss 6-8 weeks, reports Dan Hayes, via Twitter. For now, Jeff Keppinger has slid over to second base and Conor Gillaspie has taken over at third base.

The Sox may stick with that alignment for as long as it works. Angel Sanchez provides some depth all around the infield, but the club is likely to fill Beckham's roster spot with another infielder.

The lone candidate is third baseman Brent Morel, unless the Sox want to place Beckham on the 60-day DL and add another player to the 40-man roster, such as Tyler Green, Carlos Sanchez, Steve Tolleson or Drew Garcia. Don't count out the White Sox in the sweepstakes that may develop for any upgrades at second base and third base. They don't have a strong farm system, but they have always been willing to get creative to make things work.
